CONGRATULATIONS ED for a ride well done! This event has been a cross-country cycling trip to raise awareness and funds for disabled veterans. Ed Acevedo, a US Army Veteran with a service related disabilitycycled across America with the purpose to raise awareness and funding for disabled veterans and the families of military members killed in action. Ed started his long-distance cycling tour from Saint Augustine, Florida and rode to Camp Pendleton, California. Along the route, he had the opportunity to broadcast local interest stories about injured veterans, military families, and personnel who have received awards in combat. Ed was joined in various locations by cyclists representing the various branches of the military—either as veterans, reservists, or active-duty personnel—and even our wounded Marines. Ed made a stop in San Antonio to meet the wounded at Brooke Army Medical Center. He was joined by one of our Team Semper Fi members, Eric Santellana as they rode from the Center. Ed made it to Camp Pendleton, CA, home of 1-MEF on 11 July 2007. Here he was joined by injured Marines from the Wounded Warrior Center on bikes donated by the IMSFF, for a tour of the Ranch House and a ride to the Wounded Warrior Center for lunch with the IMSFF staff and volunteers and Wounded Warrior Center residents and staff. It was wonderful meeting Ed and hearing stories of his ride. He inspired all to get out and ride!
