Corey Webb, who lost his left leg in August 2004 when his humvee was hit by an oncoming tank in Fallujah, Iraq, rode a hand-crank bike to fill a void he has had since he was medically discharged. Self-fulfillment was not the only reason Webb decided to ride in the marathon. He wanted to support the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, which helped him and his family while he was recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington for seven months.
