Cpl Bradley Walker, from TN, currently a patient at
Walter Reed, starting line for the 26.2 hand cycle.
Bradley’s smile always keeps everyone going.

Sgt Eric Santellana, Sgt Frank Delgado, & Cpl Dan Lasko.
This was Eric and Dan’s first full marathon on their
prosthetics. The guys ran the entire race together, side
by side and crossed the finish with a new personal best!

Sgt TJ Edwards was severely burned in Iraq and is a
patient at BAMC. TJ ran the full marathon in boots
and utes and around mile 22 he sent us a text message
and said he would rather be on fire!

Sgt Frank Delgado who had finished the race earlier with
Eric and Dan, ran back to run the last miles with TJ
and they both crossed the finish together
(Frank’s 2nd finish), in true Marine Corps fashion -
TJ carrying Frank in a fireman's carry!!
OOH RAH!!!!!

a tip jar during the 3 day expo and raised another

SSgt Andy Robinson & wife Sarah at the finish. This was
his 1st Marine Corps Marathon! Andy is TSF Coordinator
and he did an incredible job of taking care of TSF!

On behalf of the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, we would like to thank you and congratulate you for your tremendous hard work and support during the 33rd Marine Corps Marathon. Your time and your heart in this fundraising effort helped to bring awareness and donations to the IMSFF. We are still receiving donations and your fundraising sites will remain open for as long as needed. Currently we have raised approximately $275,000! Job well done!

We would also like to thank all of the friends and family who supported, motivated and cheered on their runners. Your devotion is amazing and felt by everyone around you. Because of supporters like you we have been able to provide over 11,000 grants totaling more than $26 million since our inception in May 2004.

The needs of our wounded continue to be great and we will continue to meet their needs thanks to the generosity and kindness of great Americans like you. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping the IMSFF achieve its goal of "Serving Those Who Preserve Our Freedom."

We are happy to report that the 2008 Marine Corps Marathon was our best to date!! We ended the race with 402 athletes running for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and we raised over $275,000. The donations are still flowing in! Our runners consisted of community supporters and our own Team Semper Fi (TSF) Marines and Sailors.

The night before the race our TSF visited Walter Reed Medical Center for a pasta dinner with current patients, SSgt S... and MSgt Liptok (Marine Liaisons for Bethesda and Walter reed). TSF returned to Walter Reed not as patients, but as athletes getting ready for their 10K run, 10K hand cycle, 26.2 hand cycle or 26.2 mile run on their prosthetics. Many touching moments-- “magical” moments-- were witnessed as our TSF Marines and Sailors talked with each other, the families and our Marines and Sailors currently in the hospital. Saturday night ended late, around 11 p.m., when we welcomed the Tun Tavern runners (five Marines who ran 177.5 miles from Philadelphia to D.C. for IMSFF) at 8th and I. They were led into the Barracks with a police escort.

Race Day started early with the team meeting at our TSF tent to be with General Gray, IMSFF Chairman and our 29th USMC Commandant. It was still dark out, but General Gray arrived bright and early with his two dogs appropriately dressed in their camouflage fatigues!! Our current Marine Corps Commandant, General Conway, also visited our tent throughout the day to greet and encourage our TSF guys and gals.

It’s a blessing to hang out with this team and see, feel and share their inspiration, courage and enthusiasm. Please join us next year!!!
